July 11, 2013 -- Beddeck

early on this cool, foggy day, the day camp sailors, got their boats all ready and then went back in
side for a while ... 1/2 hour later they all hopped aboard and set off sailing

Joe and I did a walk around town, we visited some high quality art stores, this one was all Maritime Artists ... this is some of the items I wanted to bring back home with me ... BUT the skipper said no way, no space !!!  a rock lamp ...

a dog clock made out of stirling silver dinner ware

some fused glass curvy fish ...

very unusual laminated cutting board

another rock with star fish on it ...

quilted paintings ....

an even better rock lamp ...

apron made out of sail cloth ... I think I will be making some of these this winter ...

BLISS

fog still not lifted

the court house ...

looking up or is it down the main street ...

a fantastic fish market, right at the public wharf ...

the old post office ... clock still works ...

the street side of the B and B, that our boat is close to ...

the little sailors have made their way out to the light house, Joe and I are walking up to
the Alexander Graham Bell Museum

replica of the Silver Dart ...

hydro plane, another invention

Alexander Graham Bell and his wife, arrived in the area in 1886 and his large summer home
Bienn Bhreag (Gaelic for beautiful mountain), can be seen on the hillside across the water from the museum.  He and his wife are buried on the grounds of the estate.  The museum  explores the life of this ingenious inventor of the telephone and includes displays from his lifetime of work, experiments and hobbies.

Joe towing Mark from Rudder Nonsense, back to his boat, then to the marina.  The propeller on the motor dropped off...

our 4 HP, finally got things under control and the two of them disappeared into the sun set, only to find out that the closest supplier for the nut to hold on the spare prop that Mark had aboard is in Sydney...

back to our 5 lbs of fresh mussels ...

while Joe was away I examined each one and tapped them to see if they closed, then I rinsed them in fresh water and ...

they all looked good, so into the pot of 1/2 cup white wine and lots of hot sauce, 20 minutes later,
every one was steamed and open and ready to devour ...    lobster, mussels and sautéed spinach in garlic .. fantastic supper

Rudder Nonsense, hauled anchor and moved to a mooring ball next to us ... they were expecting
company soon and had to be close to paddle the dinghy to shore ...
