July 8/12

Sunday July 8
CFB Trenton to Sandy Cove, east of Belleville
first sail and anchorage since the Trent-Severn

Okay still more to do rigging from yesterday, Joe put in the rings on the stays so nothing could unwind on us, we had marked them before we left Owen Sound, and knew the right tension .. if needed we can adjust from this point.

We got boom, whisker pole installed. Sails on and lines installed, it took about 5 hours, lucky we got up at 7 to do this.

Dennis Dove, originally from Owen Sound, happened to be within reach of the mast crane ... saw us and came to visit ... he grew up in Owen Sound, was at St. Mary's S.S. along with his sister Cheryl, .....  Linda  his wife's parents live at the Harbour Apartments across from our yacht club .  What a small world. Another guy came to introduce him self and he bought his boat , a Northern 29, from our club ..  many many years ago ... sorry ... I can't remember the name of boat something like Altair ??????

Dennis offered to drive us to get groceries, liquids, and Canadian Tire .
THANKS DENNIS
You saved us many miles of back tracking to get supplies !!!!!

Dennis and another CFB member hand lined us off the mast crane and past the weed mats  so we could depart there club safely.

2nd thought maybe they wanted to get rid of us ????

THANK YOU CFB Trenton Yacht Club your services where fantastic, special thanks to the Dock Stewards

Once clear of the basin and in deeper water we slowed then reversed to clear out the weeds .. it felt good to have the mast up, now we had to test everything out, furling run the correct way, lines not twisted .... so we decided to do one sail at a time ... the wind was behind us so we only put out the foresail , .. with the currant and the wind we where at 4 knots ... okay for us, we are now Sailors again.  oh ya
take off the fenders .
Sailed under the Belleville bridge, the locals (CFB) said anchor in Sandy Cove, east of Belleville, so we did ...
Texted my girlfriend Debbie Mundall, in Kingston ... to make arrangements to meet after 8 plus years  ....

Oh ya........  Mayfor report is now Eastern Lake Ontario, only at 3;00am and 6:30 pm
and Coast Guard is Prescott
