Atherley Narrows to Kirkfield Lock #36 June 1/12

PLEASE NOTE THAT MY LAST POST, was June 30, not July 1

After a 6 am departure from Atherley Narrows, we crossed
Lake Simcoe .... with no problem ... this is the second bridge, the first was
a swing bridge, which is not on the chart ... blow your horn 3 times

Main road Hwy #11

It was strange to go from a narrow canal with overgrown
trees nearly touching the boat .... to a narrow canal with farmers
fields on both side .... it was shallow here, but we are thinking
it was reading weeds not the bottom

This is one of the 3 swing bridges we passed thru today.
Today we did 4 locks, Thorah, Portage, Talbot,
Bolsover  and stayed at bottom of Kirkfield

Just before Canal Lake, we met our first sail boat, with mast down
we tried to communicate with them, to see where they where headed
but with both our motors going it was impossible.
This next section has been the worst for weeds, and shallow parts so far ..
Note weeds lining the sides of canal.

After Canal Lake, in another canal heading for
Kirkfield Lock

What we travelled today, 23 miles and 7 hours.

Okay, Felix ... what kind of snake ???

The highway runs under the hydraulic Lift ... how cool is that !!!

Viking Star 47 ft. from St. John, BVI.   The skipper is part owner
of Pusser's Bar, in Sopers Hole .. west end Tortola and he is doing the
loop with his wife and mother .... they are normally sailors but, have enjoyed the
extra space in this boat.
Joe and I where at his bar, when we where with Distant Shores,
Paul and Sheryl Shard a few years back ... Joe had a drink called
The Pain Killer ... at 10 am
